  1. what this person said was not okay. yes everyone is aloud to have their own opinion but his opinion was rude, mean , racist and offensive to so many people. he shouldn't of said it on social media or at all for that matter.

  2. David Gaughan should try to prove that he regrets it and then just try his best to provide for his family.

    1. kadyn: that racism is not completely gone in New Zealand and because of what they were taught growing up it will be hard to shake of what he was taught. the way it links to the hate you give is that both David Gaughan and hailey had made racist comments in the past

  4. What Gaughan said was not okay and he definitely deserved the back lash from it, I would tell him to apologise and make things right with the business. It suggests that people get mad and blame things on other raises for no good reason. This story links to the hate you give with the racism that it happening and the way they are blaming each other. This comment was not okay and he should feel bad and get the back lash from it.

  7. I would tell David Gaugun that he is wrong and that he should apologise.
Racism is still an issue and that there should be more done about it because it needs to be fixed. This thing shouldn't be still happening.
This is related to The Hate you Give because it links in with the rasism in the book and how things should be done about it.

  8. I think that you should not be racist because racism is not very good because this guy was very wrong to do the racist things that he did.

  9. What advice would you give Gaughan?
I would tell him to think about what he's doing before he posts it and not blame the whole Moari culture for something that a few people did. What he did was not okay and he deserved all of the hate that he got from the public.

What does this story suggest about Racism in New Zealand?
This suggests that it's not just the USA that experiences racism and that New Zealand is one of the multiple countries that have trouble with it. It also suggests that some people say some dumb things that they might not think would offend people but then after they do it they realise theyve done something wrong and that they need to think before they do it.

How does this story link to The Hate You Give?
I think that this story relates to the hate you give with racism and blaming things on others.

What advice would you give Gaughan?- Think before you post things and don't blame and bring down the whole culture for a couple of peoples wrong, just because a couple of people you shouldn't bring down everyone,Ii bet you wouldn't say if some white people done the same things, that you would say all the men should be in jail.

What does this story suggest about racism in New Zealand?- a lot of people say that there is very little racism, but in reality there is always going to be people in the community that say things like this, racism does exist in New Zealand and it is a real thing here, we may not have it to the extent of the USA, and the Maori have it better then a lot of other darker skinned people in the rest of the world, but there is still hate regardless of the country.

How does this story link to The Hate You Give?- Gaughan is sorta like Starrs friend in the hate you give, she brings down and thinks just because of a few people and what they do represents and means the whole culture does, for example she asked Starr other friend if she ate cat for thanks giving because thats a stereotype that all Asians eat cat, when in reality a very low percentage of Asian people do eat cat and usually because they are living in poverty and eat what they can this is the reality for many cases.

  11. what David had done to try and fix what he had done was probably the best thing that he could do.He publicly apologised saying that what he had said was unacceptable and that he deserved backlash, he even offered resigning from his job at the brewery. This corresponds directly to the hate you give as there both about racism.
